Zipadee-Zip Review & World Penguin Day Books
It's World Penguin Day! Did you know that's a thing?? Well here at my house we LOVE penguins (they are my husband's favorite animal). So in honor of Word Penguin Day I thought I would share my own little penguin, and the product that has helped baby sleep so much better- The Zipadee-Zip!
I received this product in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. And I would have written a post about it anyways because I love it so much!
Zipadee-Zip Review
If you follow via instagram, you likely know what we are struggling with eczema right now with my little girl. It's awful. A few months ago we stopped trying to swaddle Mini since she kept breaking free and was starting to roll. We would apply creams all day on her face to get the redness down, but by the next morning it was back even worse because she had itched the eczema on her cheeks all night! Despite putting socks on her hands (and back on her hands throughout the night as they fell off) it was a daily battle.
Then I remembered seeing Zipadee-Zip on Shark Tank and quickly visited their website! It seemed like the perfect solution! Baby would have her hands enclosed, and unable to get them out! So we tried it... and we love it! We're never going back!
Here are the things I adore about our Zipadee-Zip
1. It's so cute! It makes her look like a little penguin!
2. She can't get her hands out and scratch her face! This is amazing! A total game changer for babies with eczema.
3. It's a wearable blanket. The one we have is made out of cotton for the warmer months, but they also have fleece ones for winter! I don't have to worry about her getting it in her face while she sleeps because it is safely attached to her body.
4. It's an instant soother. Putting on the "penguin blankie" (as we affectionately call it) has become a routine for naps and bedtime. It helps Mini know that it's time to sleep, and is comforting to her as well.
5. The penguin print is adorable! (They have other great prints too!)
My husband has also commented on how much he loves our Zipadee-Zip. He said, "it is so much easier to get her in and out of this sleep sack than all the others!" This is so true, because we don't have to force her arms through any holes or into any sleeves!
Another bonus about the Zipadee-Zip I have recently discovered is that feeding her while she's wearing it is SO much more enjoyable. I am nursing, and she often scratches and pinches me while I'm feeding her. With the Zipadee-Zip she can't scratch me! (I love this so much!)
The Zipadee-Zip has truly made our lives easier in so many ways. It is now the product I recommend to anyone transitioning from swaddling! It's so good! We are very grateful for our "zippy," and already have another one picked out in the next size up (when she outgrows her size small).

World Penguin Day Books
Like I said before, we love penguins over here on Worthington Ave! So, we have quite a few penguin picture books. These are our faves!
My Penguin Osbert by Elizabeth Cody Kimmel
This one makes my heart tingle (if that's a thing) because I love it so much. Right now this cute book is hidden away in our crawl space with the rest of our Christmas books, and I can't wait until the holidays so I can read it again!
My Penguin Osbert is the story of a little boy who is very specific in his letter to Santa Claus this year; he wants a penguin, and it HAS to be real. In this charming book this little boy realizes that having a pet penguin isn't as easy as he thought it would be, and he learns to be unselfish as he does what's best for his penguin. It is totally adorable, and the pictures are magical!
Flora and the Penguin by Molly Idle
I recommend this one earlier on one of my my Library List posts, and I'll recommend it again! If a book were sprinkles... this would be it! The pictures are stunningly sweet; so light, peaceful, and with an essence of childlike-innocence! This wordless picture book tugs at the heart-strings as you watch a penguin and a little girl become friends as they share in the joy of ice skating on a serene winter day. (Oh and did I mention it's a flap book too!) You're going to love this book!
A Penguin Story by Antoinette Portis
In this story of faith, a little penguin believes that there has to be something more than just blue and black. So, this little penguin braves the arctic by herself (himself?) and travels to find something of a different color. Will she find it? Will the other penguins believe her if she does? ;)
Thank you for reading! And I hope you enjoy celebrating World Penguin Day with your kiddos! (Make sure you go back up and enter the giveaway for a Zipadee-Zip if you haven't already!)
